The Schnell farm was bought in 1950 by Elaine's father - and she has lived there nearly every year since.  The corn crib the quilt block will be mounted on to was built in 1958 and was originally used for corn storage with an overhead storage for shell corn or beans.  The Schnell's have many flowers.  Flowers along the ditch for quite a distance and they also have hostas with a variety plot and many in the grove and around trees in their yard.  Many people "check them out" each summer!  The pattern Grandmother's Choice was picked by Elaine, but her daughter had a great deal to do with the paint choices.  After MUCH contemplation, beautiful colors were picked and the block came to life.  Grandmother's Choice was mounted with the help of Alliant Energy in July 2009.
