Barn Quilt Info
|
The abstract for this property starts in 1851, but the year of the barn is unknown. Kylene and Beverly have owned the property since 2001. The barn was originally intended to house cattle and/or hogs and is now being used for storage. This quilt block, "Iowa Star", was designed in order to represent Iowa in the color choices selected on the quilt block. The star portion is painted to reflect the colors of the Iowa state flag and the four background colors were done in colors that depict what is needed to farm Iowa; blue for the sky, yellow for the sun, brown for the earth (dirt), and green for crops. "Iowa Star" was mounted in July 2007 with the help of Alliant Energy.
