Venita's father purchased this property in 1937, and the corncrib was built in 1953, along with the house. However, work on the house was stopped mid-way in order to finish the corncrib in time to store that year's crops! Venita keeps beautiful gardens full of colorful flowers that will be a wonderful compliment to her new quilt block. This quilt pattern is called "County Fair," and it was painted by the Grundy County Farm Bureau Women's Committee. The Farm Bureau Women also took a display about the Barn Quilt project to the Summer Educational Conference held at the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Offices in West Des Moines on June 8, 2004. We greatly appreciate the enthusiastic support that the Grundy County Farm Bureau has provided for this project!
