The Heltibridle's have had the farm for around 60+ years, and
was purchased by Janet's grandparents, Frank & Ivus Severance, in April
1944. The double sided crib was used to store ear corn and the upper floor
wooden bins held soybeans. The crib is now used to store feed and other
farm items.
Darwin & Janet had always had a cow/calf herd in the farm pasture and cattle
lot. Since 1998, they've had a small elk herd. The elk are an
interesting item to many in the local area and to visitors to their farm.
They still have the old 3-legged windmill that was once used to pump water to
the farm house and to the livestock. An old schoolhouse was located on the
farm too. It stood on the gravel road to the east of the farmstead, and
north to the top of the hill.
The quilt block "Flying Geese" was mounted with the help of Alliant
Energy on August 27, 2007.
