This
barn, just west of Conrad, Iowa, originally belonged to the founder of he city of Conrad, and is now owned by John and Dean Conrad. John Conrad settled in the area in 1853, and when the railroad came to town in 1880 a plan for the town of Conrad was established. The quilt block displayed on this barn is called "Schoolhouse," and the pink ribbon visible at the lower right corner of the block symbolizes breast cancer awareness and education. |
